Choice is back on the menu
The GI diet has been superseded by a more sophisticated version: the glycaemic load (GL). The GL is a more accurate reference than the GI alone, so use it in a simplified way to make healthy food selection and to lose those stubborn wobbly bits we’d all rather not have. The structure of the diet is simple. No calorie counting, no weighing. The best thing about the diet, however, is the main-meal recipes. They are delicious, nutritious and sustaining.

Try the new GL Diet ... and shape up the easy way – Try the easy new GL Diet – everyone’s talking about it. The Glycaemic Load (GL) is the final part of the jigsaw. Testing for the GI (glycaemic index) of foods is a fantastic breakthrough, but it only gives half the true picture. The GL Diet is really a healthy eating plan for life, but if you stick to our meal suggestions (featured), you can expect to lose up to 2lbs per week.

BOOTS - handbag.com - April 2005
A good guide is The GL Diet … more useful … more of a way of eating than a diet book. It also contains good recipes that all the family can eat.
SUNDAY MAIL, Cyprus – 3rd April 2005
Diet Freedom - Refreshingly clear and easy to understand; there’s no high-tech scientific waffle … it’s a simple programme that uses a food selection system based on science, on fact not fad, but most importantly it’s been designed to be practical and easy to follow.

Diet Freedom: The GL Diet
It's a clever title - the notion of 'diet freedom' is incredibly compelling! Based on glycaemic load, carbs aren't out of bounds and calories don't need to be counted, protein isn't piled high to dangerous levels and above all else, the emphasis is on healthy eating as well as weight loss. It explores negative thought patterns, exercise, taming temptation, eating well through your busiest times as well as looking at focused supermarket shopping ... finding health choices for eating out. This is about lifestyle changes rather than starvation plans and is bound to become a source of inspiration for many interested in low-glycaemic eating.
